2+2 Transfer Pathway Guides

Welcome

2+2 Transfer Pathways outline optimal courses for obtaining an Associate degree from MCC and transferring to participating 4-year institutions. Each advising guide is tailored for a specific major at a specified 4-year institution with the advised GPA noted. Students apply to the 4-year college upon completion of their MCC degree. The final admissions decision will be made by the 4-year institution.

Bachelor degree completion may take longer than four years depending on prerequisite courses needed, course sequencing, and/or curriculum of the 4-year college program. Some guides are listed as “2+3” because they are 5-year programs. It is acceptable to take longer than two years at MCC to complete needed coursework. With the exception of the "Competitive 2+2s," students can attend full or part-time. Some courses may not be required for the MCC degree; this may have financial aid implications.

2+2 guides should be regularly reviewed along with your Degree Works Worksheet as updates do occur. Students are typically advised to follow the guide for the year they started the 2+2, however reviewing this with an advisor is strongly encouraged. Work closely with your MCC and 4-year institution advisor. For those formally admitted to a 2+2, student contact information will be shared each semester with the respective 4-year institution to ensure effective communication between the colleges. See FAQs for more information. Students who do not meet MCC Satisfactory Academic Progress and/or other 2+2 Transfer Pathway guidelines may be removed from the major. If this occurs, they may continue in the same MCC program, but without the 2+2 designation.

MCC has additional transfer advising agreements and guides. Colleges include SUNY ESF, SUNY Cortland, SUNY Alfred State, SUNY Upstate Medical, Canisius College, and more. Visit the Transfer Agreements Page for more information.

While every effort is made to ensure accurate information, students are strongly advised to verify course transferability with the transfer institution as they will make the final determination of transfer credit.

Current students with transfer related questions are advised to stop in during walk-in hours (for brief inquiries) or schedule a transfer planning appointment.
